About Us

Welcome to Nihao China Guide.

If you are planning a trip to my country, you might have heard that China is a “different world” digitally. You’ve probably heard that Google doesn’t work, cash is rarely used, and everything runs on mysterious QR codes.

It can feel overwhelming. But it doesn’t have to be.

My Story

I am not a travel agency, and I am not a backpacker who visited China once for a week.

I am a local.

I live in Xiamen, a beautiful coastal city in southern China. Living here, I often see foreign tourists standing in front of street vendors, confused because they can’t pay with cash, or struggling to communicate with taxi drivers because they don’t have the right apps.

I realized there was a huge gap. The information online is often outdated or too complicated.

I created Nihao China Guide to bridge that gap. I want to help you break down the “Digital Wall” so you can experience the real beauty of China—the food, the history, and the culture—without the stress of logistics.

Why Follow This Guide?

Most travel blogs are written by visitors. They might tell you where to take a photo, but they rarely explain how to actually survive the daily systems.

As a local resident, I offer you the insider perspective:

  • Real-Time Information: China changes fast. Apps update and policies shift. Since I live here, I know immediately when something changes.
  • Tested Solutions: I use Alipay, WeChat, and China’s transport systems every single day. I know exactly which features work for foreigners and which ones don’t.
  • Simple English: I explain complex Chinese systems in simple, easy-to-understand English.

What You Will Find Here

My goal is to make you feel like a local from the moment you land. You will find guides on:

  • Digital Payments: How to set up Alipay and WeChat Pay with your foreign card.
  • Connectivity: The best eSIMs and VPNs that actually work in 2026.
  • Transport: How to ride the metro and book high-speed trains without speaking Mandarin.

Enjoy Your Trip!

China is an incredibly welcoming country. Don’t let the fear of technology stop you from exploring it. Read the guides, get your apps ready, and come visit us.

Safe travels,

— Li Wei
